OpenWrt PR adds UniFi USW Pro XG 10 PoE switch support

OpenWrt contributors have filed a pull request adding support for Ubiquiti’s UniFi USW Pro XG 10 PoE, a Realtek RTL9313-based 10-port multi-gigabit managed switch with Power over Ethernet.

The patch is the latest step in a longer community effort to run OpenWrt on Realtek RTL838x and RTL93xx switch silicon, which underpins many low-cost managed and 10G devices. Russell, who submitted the change, reports that the switch’s PSE controllers are detected at boot (ten ports across three chips) and that available PoE power limits can already be set with ethtool, with a matching netifd/UCI path for persistent config. After device-tree address-cell fixes, SPI-NOR installs correctly format and mount the writable rootfs overlay. One unfinished item is cooling: supply fans spin hard with the cover off while the chassis fans stay stopped.

Elsewhere on the same Realtek target, users of Zyxel XGS1250 and XGS1260 hardware described a 10G port that vendor support had treated as dead after a power cut coming back under current OpenWrt, and a kernel warning in the L3 FIB path when BGP routes are installed. The UniFi PR is the clearest sign yet that these switches are moving from experimental porting into mainline-ready device support.
