TLS draft offers Keccak permutation for key schedule

A new Internet-Draft, draft-sullivan-tls-xof-ciphers-00, proposes replacing the TLS 1.3 HKDF-HMAC-SHA-2 key schedule with a single Keccak permutation schedule. The design targets efficiency when ML-KEM, Dilithium, or SHA-3 are already present. Nine participants exchanged 27 messages on the proposal in the TLS working group.

DNSOP reviews ML-DSA-44 DNSSEC test results

DNSOP participants discussed post-quantum DNSSEC options, citing RIPE Atlas testing of ML-DSA-44. Earlier measurements recorded 10-40 percent failure rates from large signatures. DNS operators evaluating quantum-resistant signatures will find the failure data material to deployment planning.

IETF creates agentproto mailing list

The IETF announced the new non-WG mailing list agentproto for Agent Communication Protocols. The list continues discussion from the agentproto BoF with an eye toward a possible working group. Those building agent systems can monitor the list for protocol direction.

DNSOP weighs parent-side types for delext

A DNSOP thread debated whether draft-ietf-dnsop-delext should reserve RRtype space for parent-side records that work with plain NS, not only DELEG. Nineteen messages from twelve participants examined the scope. The decision will influence how parent-side delegation data is standardized.

EMU addresses PQC fragmentation in EAP-AKA

The EMU working group discussed fragmentation for PQC attributes and large SUCIs in draft-ietf-emu-pqc-eapaka-02. The thread noted the need to update RFC 9048. EAP implementers adding post-quantum support must account for the fragmentation changes.

TCPM comments on packet trimming proposal

TCPM provided initial technical feedback on draft-mazilu-tcpm-packet-trimming-00. The draft defines a packet trimming NACK option and DSCP signaling. Four participants offered comments that will guide further work.
