IETF PR-action, DKIM2, and routing drafts

IESG last call on Kubota PR-action

The IESG opened a last call under RFC 3683 on a PR-action to suspend Ken Kubota posting rights on the tls, sshm, mod-discuss, and ietf lists. The cited basis is disruptive unprofessional commentary. The outcome will set a concrete precedent for how the IETF handles list conduct.

DKIM2 key validity field debate

The DKIM working group discussed adding a dedicated key validity field to the DKIM2 draft, comparing JSON recipes with flat tags. Sixty-six messages from fourteen participants show active technical disagreement on representation. Operators planning DKIM2 deployments need clarity on how key lifetimes will be signaled.

New DNS RRTYPEs for UNECE and ISO codes

An individual draft, draft-woodcock-faltstrom-external-registry-rrtypes, proposes two DNS RRTYPEs that carry UNECE and ISO registry codes verbatim for DIEM. DNSOP discussion focused on semantics and process fit. The design would let external registry identifiers appear directly in the DNS.

Unauthorized origin of AS27421

A NANOG report described unauthorized origination of AS27421 from Brazil. Participants examined RPKI, ASPA, and upstream escalation paths. The case illustrates continuing gaps in BGP origin validation for operators.

PCE adoption call for optical PCEP-LS

The PCE working group ran a call for adoption of draft-lee-pce-pcep-ls-optical-18, an experimental set of PCEP-LS extensions for optical TE data. The call closed 2026-09-14. Optical operators tracking PCEP will watch whether the draft advances as experimental work.

Feasibility dispute on power-aware TE

TEAS debate challenged the feasibility of distributed power-aware TE path computation in draft-many-teas-power-steering-01 during its adoption call. Critics questioned core assumptions of the approach. Energy-aware path computation remains contested inside the working group.

IDR adoption call for BGP path bandwidth

IDR held a two-week adoption call for draft-xu-idr-fare-08, defining a BGP Path Bandwidth extended community aimed at AI data-center fabrics. Most replies supported adoption; one technical objection addressed BGP semantics. The draft targets bandwidth signaling in large AI fabrics.

CBOR serialization draft in WGLC

The CBOR working group opened and later extended working-group last call on draft-ietf-cbor-serialization. Comments covered bstr wrapping and data-model boundaries. Implementers of CBOR encodings should review the text while the call remains open.
