QEMU integrity fixes and PostgreSQL replication work
QEMU and PostgreSQL threads dominated with data integrity fixes and replication improvements, alongside storage emulation and dependency discussions. Several patch series advanced toward commit while review of conflict handling and async paths continued.
QEMU preallocate filter data loss fix
A 13-patch series on qemu-devel fixes data loss in the preallocate filter stemming from races in multi-AioContext writes and preallocation state. Five participants discussed the block layer changes over 33 messages. The work addresses a security-relevant integrity issue that matters for concurrent write workloads under QEMU.
PostgreSQL offline checksum state on standbys
A pgsql-hackers thread reports bugs in which offline data checksum changes can leave standbys with mismatched or unreadable checksum state. Seven participants exchanged 44 messages on the problem and ongoing patch discussion. Operators who rely on checksums for replica integrity have a direct stake in the outcome.
Conflict log history table for logical replication
Review continues on a proposal to add a conflict log history table for PostgreSQL logical replication, covering error handling, GUCs, and edge cases. Fifteen participants produced 178 messages on the patches. The table would give operators clearer diagnostics when replication conflicts occur.
Asynchronous MergeAppend advances
Etsuro Fujita posted a reworked asynchronous MergeAppend patch on pgsql-hackers. Reviewers approved the changes and he plans to commit after one week of further scrutiny. The work improves asynchronous execution paths that matter for parallel query performance.
RPMI support for QEMU RISC-V virt
Version 14 of a patch series adds optional RPMI platform management covering reset, HSM, and suspend to QEMU RISC-V virt using librpmi. The series was posted by a single participant. It extends management capabilities available to RISC-V virtualization users.
Sashiko LLM review bot for QEMU
An announcement stated that the Sashiko LLM patch-review bot now supports QEMU. Seven participants discussed local use, maintainer workflows, and documentation concerns. The tool is intended to assist patch review processes inside the project.
Samba OpenSSL dependency discussion
Samba developers considered adding an OpenSSL dependency after its license change in order to enable GKDI support and replace the EOL-based hcrypto library. The thread so far involves one participant. The change would update cryptography foundations used by Samba.
Zoned storage emulation in qcow2
Version 16 of a QEMU patch series implements full zoned storage emulation in the qcow2 driver, including metadata, error handling, and tests. Two participants are driving the work. The series brings modern zoned device models into qcow2-backed virtual storage.
